And so I begin what I have thought to do for about two years now.
The short version is that circumstances have convinced me that the control of eczema is, in my case and so far a few others, very much dependent on Evening Primrose Oil.
The long version would be my background and basis for this claim. Over the years and I've covered many, I've had some very strong experiences related to health conditions and, let's say, "alternative solutions," nutrients - supplements. I wish to begin with the one that relates to an outbreak of eczema on my hands and arms (spots of my face) in late 2003.
I was in my early 60s at the time and had had a long history of dealing with pollen (all of them) allergies and, eventually, an allergy to mold. Because of my many now-adult children, I had also dealt with many of the problems that occur in childhood, like the many varieties of fungal infections, etc. When the phenomenon began to occur first between the fingers of one hand, I erroneously drew the conclusion that I had contracted seomting of this nature. I tried some over-the-counter topical creams and gradually the problem grew worse and was soon on the other hand. I then concluded that soon I would be infecting everyone who knew me.
At the time, I was working in downtown Chicago and began to panic. One afternoon, things at work let up and I was able to make an appointment with a dermatologist. During my lunch break, I ran to the other side of the "Loop" to get this checked out. When the diagnosis came back very quickly and confidently, I began to argue with the doctor. Where did it come from? I never had it before. I knew it was often related to asthma. I did not have this problem. She conceded that, if not, then I had allergies. Now this was true. After some discussion, I left wit some sample creams, etc. and ran back to work.
On my run back, I began to consider the possibility of this diagnosis. I thought that she probably knew eczema when she saw it. I was in a little state of shock and began to review family history. For sure, my grandmother had this problem. Yes to this and yes to that.
Now I begin to shorten the background. After sharing this new realization with my offspring, my eldest child and daughter began a web search. She came up with many things and one was a reference to Evening Primrose oil but it just seemed to recommend creams contaning this and nothing else. draft
